Love it: Frieze Art Fair

This weekend here in Boston is the Head of the Charles Regatta which is an  amazing event happening for people to experience the unique sights and sounds of rowing in one of the most beautiful cities.

But for me, the event that I am lusting over is the the annual Frieze Art Fair which is taking place this weekend as well across the pond in Regent's Park, London, UK. Started in 2003, the Frieze Art Fair is now one of the cornerstone events in the art world both intellectually and commercially. Having studied Contemporary Art History at Sotheby's Institute of Art in London I have had the pleasure of experiencing the Frieze Art Fair twice and I was always struck as to how seriously the exhibitors took showing their work even though deep down the goal of an art fair is to make sales. Frieze gives its viewers a unique opportunity to connect with collectors, gallerists, and artists through the fair itself as well as the various off shoot programmes which are made available to the spectator. Even if you never look at a price sheet or get to put a red dot symbolizing a sale next to a piece it is a visual cornucopia from all over the world which you can wander aimlessly through stopping to examine works of art that peek your interest.

So although I will be enjoying myself down by the banks of the Charles River this weekend I will also be reading online about the visual feast occurring in London.
