Gift Guide: for the guys

And to wrap up my gift guides for 2014 I leave you with the gift guide for the dudes in your life.

First up, everyone needs a keychain and I simply adore this understated stamped brass keychain with "home" engraved. It is a sweet reminder of any "home" be it college dorm, apartment or first purchased home.

Next up is a Jawbone UP 24 which tracks your movement as well as your sleep cycle. And it comes in a bunch of cool colors to appeal to different styles.

A classy bag is a perfect way to upgrade your travel style. And this bag is handmade in Brooklyn with classic, masculine materials.

A beanie. Everyone needs one. And sometimes a classic throwback is the best way to go. I love the soft, durable quality of Patagonia products.

Cuppow! It needs the exclamation point, right? Because it's genius. Everyone has a few mason jars bouncing around their kitchen, right? And Cuppow has created a way to turn the humble mason jar into a travel mug or even a container for our lunch break salad.

Lastly, a new pair of soft, flannel jammie bottoms. Perhaps to unwrap on Christmas Eve so your guy can wear them to unwrap presents on Christmas morning.

Gift Guide: for the ladies

Cozy. That is what I want to give and that is what I want to receive. Perhaps it is because I was just up in Woodstock, VT celebrating one of my best friends weddings and the land was blanketed in snow. And although we have flurries outside of our window today, we have yet to have the first real magical coating of the white stuff. Either way I think that the cozy theme is one that fits many lovely ladies on your list.

So onto the gift guide.

Candles. They are wonderful to receive and to give. But I do find that sometimes at the holiday season everything becomes saturated with faux gingerbread smells and pretend pine tree. I like to stick with the simple, classic smells and one of my favourites is the Swedish Dream Sea Salt Candle. The clean aroma is enveloping not overwhelming.

Infinity scarves. I love these. They fit so snuggly under your winter jacket and take no time to pop on and off. And there are so many on the market you do not need to break the bank.

Booties are great. They keep your toes warm and they look great with dresses and with jeans. Sam Endelman Petty Boots are the perfect height and the zippers make them super easy to get on and off. The black suede is classic but they come in an array of colors. Yay, for choices.

Long, drapey necklaces are a great compliment to a holiday party dress or your t-shirt and jeans. And because it is made of brass it will oxidize over time creating a unique effect.

What is a better way to carry a little Springtime flowers around in your pocket? This Moorea Seal iPhone case is made of pressed flower hidden under a resin seal creating a beautiful effect.

And of course a cozy gift list would not be complete without a sweater. And this beautiful classic Madewell sweater has a twist. Not only is it color-blocked but it has a sweater has a zipper in the back allowing it to change from a classic style to a swing style in just a second.

Gift guide: for the home

Be the hostess with the mostess or need an idea for a fun whimsical piece to add to your own home then check out these fun items.

First up is a Max Wagner print. His beautiful colors and endless picturesque California scenes would brighten up any room in your home.

Now onto something cozy. A new blanket in a traditional plaid would be a delightful and unconventional gift for a holiday party.

Mmmm. coffee, good coffee. And in my honest opinion Stumptown Coffee is some of the best around. And if you have a coffee lover on your hands then it makes an awesome gift.

A beautiful, durable and classic Le Creuset cast-iron enamel Dutch oven would make an amazing gift to any cook in your life. An even better way to present it would be to cook up a tasty pot of soup or stew and then let them keep the pot you cooked it in.

Do pillows make you as cheery as they do me? I love finding cute, whimsical pillows to jazz up your couch or easy chair for the holidays or just because, this "happy" pillow makes me, well happy!

And last but not least are some lovely and sweet little mercury glass votive candle holders that would add a beautiful glow to any holiday table.

Gift Guide: for the kiddos

it's that time of year again. the time for gifts and goodies. i love trying to find fun and unique items that will fulfill the desires of a child's mind but also appeal to adult sensibilities. There are soooo many options for kids these days so it can be challenging to cull through all of the sites so I hope some of these items can get you pointed in the right direction.

I absolutely adore the Winter Water Factory for their unique, screen-printed textile designs. This Brooklyn-based company creates the sweetest dresses for little girls and delightfully whimsical sweatshirts for boys (and girls). The colors are bright and they wash up wonderfully.

If you have not heard of Freshly Picked leather moccasins, then let me be the first to say, you are welcome. They are soft soled, durable little moccasins that come in the most amazing colors and patterns.

How pretty is this tumbling tower set? I love the pastel colors and what kid does not love to build a tower just to knock it back down? No kiddo that I have ever known. It's a perfect modern update on a classic.

I love puzzles. My son loves puzzles. So I am always on the lookout for a well-made and unique puzzle and this map puzzle from The Land of Nod certainly fit the bill.

Oliver has been perusing all of the toy catalogs that come in the mail and one item that he kept landing on was a remote controlled car. So after some searching for a durable, well-priced car Amazon came to the rescue with this shark inspired one. How fun, right?

And because we live in New England and we keep our house a bit chilly, socks or slippers are a must in our house. And let me tell you, it is hard to find classic slippers for little feet, so when Crewcuts came out with these reasonably priced beauties I jumped on them.

happy shopping.
